HI everybody...got a show we're planning for this weekend that's gonna be a blast and
we've got some people coming in from out of town, what are your favorite things to do
after a show?
Get some nosh?
Fill a wading pool with margaritas?
Do you go out to your local watering hole and boogie down?
With or without your show dance clothes on?
Just curious,
Thanks!

Re: what to do after a show...?
Wed, May 7, 2008 - 2:20 PMI find very often after a performance I have a LOT of energy still coursing and a need to dance it off. Plus, I've invested a lot of time and effort in getting all dressed and make-upped; why let it go to waste? Me and my troupemates will often go hit the local goth/industrial club after an evening performance and burn off the rest of our "dancies". Walking in all dolled up in whatever incarnation of Fusion we happen to be wearing is considered perfectly "normal" at such clubs, and we get lots of positive comments and feedback from interested and curious onlookers. We've even snagged new members that way! -

Re: what to do after a show...?
Thu, May 8, 2008 - 4:30 PMI agree - after getting all gussied up and excited, 5 minutes of a performance is not enough to burn off the energy and I'm often disappointed if I can't do some dancing afterwards, or at least hang out for awhile and be goofy before going home.

Re: what to do after a show...?
Wed, May 7, 2008 - 3:57 PMTribal Spirits usually goes out to the local pub (which in Wisconsin is very rural) and enjoys the ridiculous, giggle inducing difference between everyone else at the bar and ... er... us. Sometimes we dance, sometimes we DRUM and dance, sometimes they just have to WISH we would dance. After all, it's not a paid show! Fun Fun Fun!

Re: what to do after a show...?
Wed, May 7, 2008 - 9:39 PMdepends on how tired we Old Broads (me) are after a show....we (Trillium) have gone out for food or a glass of wine after a gig. For us, it is nearly impossible to go in anything but our costumes...it takes us at least a half hour to UN-dress. It's kinda fun to see people's reactions and talk with them. We have even been known to dance at after-parties. Very silly to see folks' reactions to zils played to popular music!

Re: what to do after a show...?
Thu, May 8, 2008 - 3:49 AMA big group of us go to a local restaurant (still in costume) to eat and have a drink. They love us coming in! After that, some people go to the local hookah bar.

Re: what to do after a show...?
Thu, May 8, 2008 - 10:05 AMWe usually hit the diner or a bar.
Except for my most basic pieces, I never go out in costume. For my most delicate/complex pieces (coin bra, belt) I even wrap them in muslin before I put them in my bag. I put in too much time and money to risk spilling food or beer on them, or getting the tangly-bits caught on something. But I do enjoy going out when my hair and makeup are all still done up.

Re: what to do after a show...?
Yesterday, 5:05 AMFor myself and other troupe members, it depends on what season it is.
Usually in summer, after a performance, I go swimming for few hours.
But the rest ofthe year, we usually have a private party and dance for hours on end, or go out for a meal together.
So usually, it ends up with us ladies full of energy and needing to burn it off! -

Re: what to do after a show...?
Yesterday, 5:48 AMAs (usually) the producer/emcee/dancer I usually just want to go home but after big shows like a trip out ot town or our annual recital then I do like to go out & eat, drink, & visit. Especially if there's other folk there from the show -
Sigh... hearing about you all wanting to go out & dance afterwards reminds me I got into Bellydancing because I wanted to dance, & then it took over my life & became a job, so watch out what you wish for!
